Christ Our Savior sent mission teams to Choval, Guatemala from 2013 to 2018. We have continued to pray for the community but have struggled to be able to do more to serve the people of Choval. Last summer Mike heard about an opportunity to provide scholarships to further educate young people in the community. After many emails with Central American Lutheran Mission Society (CALMS) he were able to coordinate scholarships for the two young ladies to attend a trade school in Coban, Guatemala. Intercap Trade School offers training in bakery, construction, sewing and mechanics. Evelyn and Roxana will be attending the baking classes. With some of the mission funds COS will be covering the cost of the classes, uniforms and transportation. The class is 8 months long starting in February.

Choval is a community where many students will only receive a 3rd grade education. The girls are seldom trained for any career other that being a wife and mother. Thank you for helping to provide this opportunity. We pray the girls will be successful in the classes and use their new skills to improve the lives of their families and the community.

If you have questions or want to learn more about Choval and their experiences Karen or Mike Bianco would love to share information.

Christ Our Savior sent mission teams to Choval, Guatemala for five years. We were blessed to have supported the construction of a community meeting center in Choval. Among other successes was the provision of hundreds of toothbrushes to the residents for whom this is a luxury. The mission teams packed suitcases with Spanish language Bibles, Sunday School materials and school supplies. Another big hit was the year they brought soccer balls to given to the men and boys.

The team will never forget finding a baby named Jamison who was hidden from view because he was born with a cleft palate. The Team fell in love with this little boy and helped facilitate the surgery to correct his condition.
